The Phoenicians are the ones who founded Malaga, around 1000 BC, but only 6 centuries later the Romans became interested in the flourishing city and conquered it.

The Visigoths and the Moors followed, as well as the Christians. This outstanding combination of cultures that ruled over the city at one time or another into the past created a very interesting architectural and cultural heritage that now lives in perfect balance with the modern part of Malaga.
