The beautiful Alicante

The Teatro Principal

The theatre is situated very close to the crowded Rambla Avenue, behind the imposing Banco de Espana building. Inaugurated in 1847, the Theatre displays a spectacular neoclassical architectural style, with six Doric columns and a beautiful triangular front.

The interior of the building displays another spectacular architectural style: an Italian one, characteristic for the second part of the 19th century. The main hall impresses its visitors with the horseshoe shape and with the outstanding balconies that occupy four levels. They form a curvature that gives the air of spaciousness and it contributes to the improvement of the sound and visual’s perception. The right side of the Teatro Principal is a charming green area, having Agamemnon’s sculpture in its center. You might even have the chance to see international artists performing on one of the theatre’s stages, so you can schedule your holiday according to this.

The Arniches Theatre

The Arniches Theatre is much smaller than the Teatro Principal and it offers its visitors a darker atmosphere, a more private one! Situated close to the Renfe train station, the theatre can only host 264 persons. However, it is extremely popular among inhabitants and tourists, due to the fact that the atmosphere that surrounds it is very special. You should definitely visit Alicante at least once in your lifetime, as it really deserves your entire attention!
