The capital city of Spain

Madrid is the capital city of Spain and one of its most beautiful cities. It is a place packed with history, culture and architecture, so a holiday here will be a very busy, but interesting one! The city is one with many buildings, monuments and museums that tell its past, so prepare for a history lesson like never before! Due to the fact that Madrid is a national capital, the center of a huge metropolitan area with no less than 6.5 million residents and a tourist city, it was always blessed with a huge list of museums of practically every stripe: art galleries that became internationally renowned and even specialized museums, such as the Real Madrid F.C.

A tour of Madrid’s museums

It is unbelievable how many things you will learn by going on a tour of the museums, so make sure you miss not even one of them! The Prado Museum is one of the most famous that Madrid has, as it hosts fantastic collections of paintings belonging to great Spanish painters and to European Masters. The Reina Sofia National Art Museum is another big attraction for those who love art and culture, especially because of the fact that it focuses on works created starting with the 19th century and until today. In the same register, visit the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum, a private gallery that hosts collections belonging to artists such as Goya, Renoir or Degas.

Continue your tour of the city’s museums with a visit to the Royal Palace, which has numerous chambers opened for public; the official rooms, the Royal Armory and the Royal Pharmacy can be visited, so enjoy their beauty! Those who love archaeology and especially the early history should visit the San Isidro Museum while the Train Museum is one of those specialized museums that your kids will love, as it keeps them entertained.

The Bullfighting Museum is representative for Spain’s culture, as the bullfighting is one of the oldest traditions of the country.
